Todd Purser
Physio – Todd joined the team at Gold Coast Sports and Spinal Physio in 2012 after graduating from LaTrobe University in Melbourne with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy. Having grown up an active person, Todd has spent many hours being the patient at his local physio. This has helped Todd choose his career and has inspired him to help others return from injury just as he experienced himself. He is particularly interested in the treatment and management of sports injuries and other musculoskeletal complaints and has a strong sporting background having played football, golf, basketball, track & field and also runs regularly. He utilises biomechanical assessment, manual therapy and exercise programs to manage patients conditions and help them achieve their goals. Being an Australian Physiotherapy Association member, Todd readily accesses the most up-to-date research for the treatment of injuries which he puts into practice.
Melanie Roberts
Principal Physio – Melanie is the Principal physiotherapist and began Gold Coast Sports & Spinal Physio in 2003. She graduated from the University of South Australia in 1996 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy and completed a Masters in Sports Physio in 2002. She began her career working in private practice as well as in hospitals before working over in the UK . Following this she worked for three years in a private practice / private hospital before heading off to work in the USA. Since returning she has worked in private practice, mainly in the area of sports physiotherapy. Since 2007 Melanie has become an “APA Sports Physiotherapist”, a title awarded by the Australian Physiotherapy Association. She has previous experience with various sporting teams including freestyle snow skiing with the ‘Australian Ski Team’ as well as Australian Rules, Rugby Union and League and Motor Racing both nationally and internationally. Her main areas of interest are with sports and spinal physiotherapy, however, she enjoys treating all sorts of physio related problems. She has completed a Pilates course for “core stability” training. Melanie is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, Physiotherapy Business Australia and the Sports Physiotherapy Group.
Jess Norton
Physio – Jessica joined Gold Coast Sports & Spinal Physio in January 2010 as a physio. She graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Exercise Science degree. Jessica’s main interest is in sports physiotherapy; however she is keen to treat patients with all kinds of physio related conditions. Jess has worked with soccer teams over the last few years, including Gold Coast United, and is currently club physio for Palm Beach Soccer Club. Jessica is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Sports Physiotherapy groups.
Deb Crawford
Massage Therapist/Group Pilates Instructor – Deb studied to be a Fitness Leader and attained her accreditation in 1992. In 1994 she became a “Fat loss Counselor”, studying under nutritionalist Matt O’Neill of “Sunrise” fame. In 1995 she attained her Certificate of Massage Therapy from Om Shanti College in Canberra before moving to the Gold Coast in 2002. In 2002, after participating in a Pilates class and enjoying this she decided to become a Pilates Matwork instructor. She now teaches in various locations around the Gold Coast as well as at Gold Coast Sports & Spinal Physio since 1998, where she teaches “Clinical Pilates” designed for people with pain and dysfunction.
Maree Turner
Massage Therapist – Maree joined Gold Coast Sports and Spinal Physio in December 2010. She did her training at New Zealand College of Massage 17 years ago. She has previous experience with various teams including Auckland Blues rugby team, Titans NRL team also many cyclists, triathletes and runners. Coming from a competitive running background she knows the importance of regular massage to prevent injuries and maintenance to achieve goals.
Rae
Receptionist – Rae has been with Gold Coast Sports & Spinal Physio since early 2009 and currently works in reception.
Pam
Receptionist – Pam joined Gold Coast Sports & Spinal Physio in 2003 soon after the practice opened and is now working remotely as our bookkeeper.
