John Olsen

Physio – John has recently moved to the GC bringing over 22 years of clinical experience with him.  He graduated from Otago University in 1995 and completing a Diploma of Manipulation in 2001.  He remains a passionate physio after all of these years and wants to achieve the best results for each of his patients.  With a significant amount of experience in the treatment of mid/lower back and neck pain and dysfunction, he can restore function with manual techniques including manipulation if desired.  He also gives a rehabilitation program to achieve long-term results and prevent reoccurrence. Other areas of interest include returning sports people back to their field of play (15 years with representative rugby teams in NZ) and he finds this both “challenging and rewarding”.  John has a particular interest in shoulders – including the sporting shoulder and age-related impairment and dysfunction.  He has done post-graduate courses in the McKenzie approach for the disc related spinal problems, neural mobilisation, advanced shoulder courses and multiple manipulation courses.  John believes “the most important person in the room is the patient” and that “successful outcomes are a team-approach”.  He believes that it is important “getting to the root-cause of the problem and then applying the best rehabilitation program at the appropriate time for the injury, to get the best outcome.”
